Fleet "Ziotoo4's Barbary one set" - 51 Points (standard format) show extended format
created by ziotoo4 Premium Member

Hi everyone!
This time the challenge was really intriguing...
Choose one nation and one set, and make a 51 points deathmatch fleet.
Also, there were some nation limits that made me choose Barbary Corsairs. In fact, only BC were enable to use extra action crew. Also, they had fast ships, and only Vikings were allowed to use Helmsmen, so i was sure to be in a good playing condition. It wasn't really the fact i could use extra actions (BC have only 2 extra action crew and no reroller), but that the enemy could not do any extra movement!

But then I saw Milbarber's fleet! He managed to use an ectra action as well, and, with his Albert Crenshaw, he was immune to my "cannot be shot at from S" ability.

That is, i decided to take full advantage from generic BC crew...let's see how.

Nubian Prince is a decent ship. Nothing special, of course, but a nice S+S move and the S range immunity. His cannons, on the other side, weren't that great: it ranges from 2 to 5 rank cannons!
A good tactic would have seen the Prince attacking ships with the most S cannons, but Milbarber found a way to prevent this. That's where the chainshot specialist comes out handy! We will shoot with the good, old chainshot to the enemy ship with our 2 rank cannons, crossing our fingers hoping that it hits. But, once it does so, the enemy ship is practically gone: she cannot move, but neither she can shoot us, due to the nasty ability of the Prince!

Janissaries' blood is the flagship of our fleet. With four 3 rank cannons, she doesn't seems good for combat, but wih Murat Rais those cannons will become 2 rank! Hawkins will provide an extra action, boosting the possible cannon range to L+L+S+S+L (probably the best for our challenge). But the prince could be victim of an enemy first strike: that's where her ability becomes useful: with the reverse captain, a Smokepot specialist will allow her to spend every dangerous turn into a Fog Bank, that will disappear next turn, just in time to allow her an L+S move with subsequent shoot action, or, even better, if Jack rolls a 5 or a 6, a move, shoot, shoot move action, that could end re-entering a new fog bank!

Basically, the Prince is the support ship: it will go attacking lone enemy ships. Janissaries' blood, on the other side, is very impressive, and will take care of the toughest enemies.

Comments are appreciated! :-)

ciao! Fede
