Hi all!
Take a close look at this fleet, because i think it's quite competitive.

I've been experimenting for long with eternal crew, because i think they are great in 40 points games, where if you lose the gunship, you lose everything. With eternal, instead, you can take some turns to repair and then send again your ship into combat (for further infos:eternal keyword).
So, such a powerful ability will have some downsides, huh?. Well, there is a huge one: if your opponent leaves the eternal ship derelict and then explore her, he gains control over her, meaning that now it's up to you to face the immortal ship you brought in the game!

So, i looked to find a flaw in the rules. And i made it: turbine. Your opponent has to explore a derelict to take control over it, and since turbine is never derelict, this means he can't steal your ship. This thing is also approved by woelf FAQ's on WK site.

So, what happens next. In the game we have only one turbine: it's grinder. This is the only ship that can support us, but this cursed turbine isn't weak at all! With fast L+S move (a rarity for cursed), 4 cargos (another rarity) and three 2L cannons, the pick is almost made. For only 12 points!

Now we need to crew this ship: cursed don't have any crew that reduces point cost, so we will be able to use only 12 points of crew.
First, a captain is mandatory. (-9). Then, since 3 cannons aren't enough to take down a large gunship, a double actions is good, i think. We can use El Fantasma . If it wasn't enough, el fantasma also features Eternal (we were looking for it, after all!) and Fear, wich can shut down, if your lucky, those nasty abilities that make enemy ships invulnerable to L cannons, or Parley. With the last 2 points, helmsman is great because with only three mast we need to count on speed rather than on strenght. Also, a firepot specialist wouldn't be bad, but i don't like them, so i won't use it.

Let's see what we have: a 24 point ship (rather cheap for what it carries), with only L range cannons, no immunity to crew removing and with the key ability that can be cancelled. (you can cancel the canceller, but only if yu roll 5 on fear...1/6 odds aren't really great...)
So, we'll need another support gunship that features good S range cannons, just in case our enemy posses these three bad ailities. But what can we buy with just 16 points? Simply, one of the brand new flotillas. We'll take one towed by one of the best (and cheap) treasure runners. So, the deadly couple Doombox and Banshee's cry is made. With a silver explorer on the banshee, we have a treasure runner. Your single master will be escorted by a moving fort, and you'll be able to shoot at targets L+L+S+S far in a turn thanks to Banshee's move and the flotilla extende range. All this with 13 points...cool!

Lastly, we'll need some events to help this fleet: firstly, Mermaids
will cripple enemy gunships, Divers will help in the chase of those 16 gold points and favor of the gods will protect your ships from nasty events.

That's all. This fleet is fun to play and it's also really powerful. With the new sets it's not anymore strenght that counts, but rather speed and multiple actions...being able to shoot at L+S+S+L range (move and shoot) is more than enough to try this fleet!

Advertisement time: i see we are heving a "rebirth" of the armies section. In the past i made some fleets that were really good and funny to play. None of them ever made into the top five. Why don't you vote them now? I think they are somehow valuable, and some introduced new tactics that were howewer simply...ignorated, nor rated.

Hi! i see i have taken the good old 3. Whoever placed it, could please leave a comment on this fleet. If he doesn't, i wouldn't understand why my fleet is only "3" (nor good, nor bad) and i won't be able to fix it. Or at least explain what it's mediocre for you in this fleet...i thought it was good

I gave you a 5, hope that helps.

Turbine + Eternal = Genius.

I was going to say, I'm not sure El Fantasma is worth the points, and you could do Tabatha McWarren/Cavendish + Ralph David/Gus Schulz, but SAT + Eternal + Fear for 7 points... on second thought that's a pretty good deal. Could use a reroller, though.

I like the fleet, but I have one idea. How about getting rid of the events and adding in the Bloody Jewle to get some more treasure runners.

Hi captain!
Your idea is great, but i wanted to use mermaids in my fleet because it's unlikely the turbine can take out a 5 master in a single turn, and since where i play it's some time no one uses events, i thought that it would be a nasty surprise.
FoTG is here to make the fleet universal, when i play this fleet i don't use it and instead i swap rover for Marianne, the spy ship.
And lastly, divers is there because there's a second runner missing, it could effectively be bloody jewel, but didn't own it and i wanted to use events, so...

Anyway, great idea!

Ouch time.

Like Darrin said, Eternal+Turbine=Genius.

I'm a little worried for your fleet if you run into something that can't be hit by L range cannons, but hopefully you won't. Or, hopefully you roll a 5.

I gave this fleet a 5/5. Not bad, not bad at all!

I thought about cannot be hit by L ships, that's why i added the flotilla that has all S cannons ;-)
