I'm going a bit by memory, here, but I used this fleet in a DPotC mp game not too long ago, and it did quite well - just when I was starting to think the English got burned in that set!

Mullroy and Cutler Beckett are an indispensable combo for the English in DPotC, providing somewhat reliable extra actions, and the Hyena has plenty of room to carry the pair and still hunt for gold(Beckett being linked to any English ship, of course).

I basically used the Resistance as a gold ferry, while the Interceptor actually managed to find an island full of gold, which, thanks to her ability and Beckett's rolls, she was able to bring home safely, but only after making a slight detour to sink both the Black Pearl and the Empress, of course.

Then it came down to the Hyena bringing the Resistance the last gold pieces, courtesy of a handy set of whirlpools and complemented by Smuggled Goods, and it was left up to the final count for the win.

I can't really find anything wrong with this fleet. The only thing you might need to do is to add a captain to the Intersepter. You would still be able to bring home some gold while also gaining a speed bonus. That just my two cents.

I agree, a captain would be ideal, but when playing with only DPotC ships and crew, a little more creativity seems to be required when taking the English. For captains, the English only have one choice really, Admiral James Norrington*, and at 7pts, that leaves Governor Weatherby Swann as a second crew for this fleet.(I know, because I had already used that combo ) Like I said, I was just starting to believe the English had gotten burned with DPotC, but Beckett is their ace-in-the-hole, since, providing he can make a few rolls, he can give actions to any of their ships - he proved to be second-best to actually having a captain on board the Interceptor - just ask the crews of the Black Pearl and Empress.


*There's also Mercer, if he has some cheap Pirate crew to sac for the extra shoot actions.
