Miniature Trading

General description:
The Bloody Jewel isn't a ship that is always foremost in people's minds when they think of gold runners but it's definitely worth considering.

Uses:
This ship is best used as a gold runner but it's not a total pushover in the gun department, either. Not a candidate for a Captain but it can shoot at long range and will probably take a mast or two off any ship that it can survive one salvo against.

Strategies and game play:
With it's enormous 5 cargo spaces this ship is made for haulin' home the booty (as in gold, not... other things).

Combos with other miniatures:
Since this ship has 5 cargo spaces putting the standard Helmsman/Explorer combo gives you the possibility of leaving an island with all four gold once you do the Helsman/Explorer shuffle.

Ways to counteract it:
With only 2 masts and no schooner-like ability it's subject to the ol' pin-n-shoot.

Strengths/Pros:
- Decent base move
- Gigantic cargo hold for a 2-masted ship

Weaknesses/Cons:
- Americans get cannon bonuses

Artwork and aesthetics:
The blood-red art on this ship is really cool and pretty much unique.

Overall rating:
I rank the Bloody Jewel at a 7. Not something for every fleet but a great draw for sealed or draft.
