General description:
With good cannon rolls, 5 masts, a nice ability, and a somewhat dangerous reputation, the HMS Titan delivers unparalleled performance in deathmatch and gold-hunting scenarios. Unfortunately, reputation comes at a price, , many players (especially newbies) see it and thinks, "He has the HMS Titan! I'm gonna sink that one first." Which, could get your rear whooped in any game, if not watched correctly.
Uses:
As I have found out in many a game, the HMS Titan doesn't excel at front row combat, you should leave that to ships that have a special ability that makes it more safe to keep your enemy at bay. The rank 2 cannons can deal out incredible damage, but only if it attacks first. Its possible to make the Titan a treasure hauler, but to make full use of its incredible cannons, battle is where it suits best. I must note that it does have a link to Admiral Robert Blake, which has a second action ability and +1 cannon rolls against Barbary Corsair ships, so it can come in handy considering that it links to it so he can help.
Strategies and game play:
Being a semi-feared PoSM Ships, you can use that reputation to your advantage. It can taunt the enemy ships away from their fleet to try and sink it, but don't get too close, or your opponent will have that ship in splinters before you can say, "But I haven't even shot at you yet!" Send it along with 2 and 3 mast ships, you'll be surprised at how much more they help than another 5 mast. Most of the time, your enemies will try to sink the Titan first, leaving them open to the ships around it. Obviously, if your opponent send their whole fleet against it, you're kinda screwed; try not to let it get that bad. Always roll for the second action, don't forget, it will always come in handy.
Combos with other miniatures:
Get Admiral James Norrington or a similar crew to make your cannons more accurate, get Lady Kamaile to allow other crew to be used, put a captain, helmsman and shipwright too, if your going into battle. If goin for treasure, get a (different nationality, there are no english cargo masters) cargo master, and/or Captain Bianco with Lady Kamaile to allow more room for treasure. ALWAYS have this ship backed up with decent support, preferrably a ship with 2 cannons or a devestating special ability to keep it safe, because the Titan will draw some attention.
Ways to counteract it:
Cancellers are always hated by this ship, and one of the most devistating moves is having PatOE Davy Jones or George Washington LeBeaux use its ability when this ship is docked; send the Titan directly into your fleet and maul it. Unless of course, you manage to miss with almost all your cannons, you will almost definitely send it to Davy Jones' Locker. Also like any other ship, ganging up on this ship at one time will cause the same effect, except Davy Jones and others like it, will make it easier and faster
Strengths/Pros:
>Good Cannon Rolls
>Decent Cargo
>5 Masts
>Powerful Special Ability
>Relatively cheap, only 17 Points
>Links to Admiral Robert Blake
Weaknesses/Cons:
>Slow, moves L
>Reputation makes it a large target
>Really Rare now
Artwork and aesthetics:
It looks like an ordinary Battleship, nothing too special, it looks like it has seen some battles, but other than that kinda ordinary.
Overall rating:
Cannons: 9/10 (perfect ten with +1 cannon rolls)
Special Ability: 8/10
Usefullness: 8.5/10
Artwork/Design: 5/10
Cost (for its worth): 9/10
What would make this ship perfect is a better paint design
