General description:
This Carl Edwards is one of the best cars in Race Day. The ability to have two options on every move with no checks is undeniably strong. Note that the 2005 Kurt Busch #27of28 has the same ability, with a better body check number (4).
Uses:
The ability of making two (2) move rolls and choosing the result you want gives you several options of movement, and thus provides options for how to avoid even needing the driver, body, or engine check numbers.
Strategies and game play:
Use the ability to avoid traffic, bumping, and damage on every turn possible. In a standard 5 lap race, if you can avoid damage, you have the ultimate advantage. When your in the position of trying to decide whether to pit or not, roll first and see if you get a roll that is impossible to pass up. If you are 2-3 spots from the pits and you roll a 12, keep going if you can. If you roll exactly enough to pit, do it, even if it's early, because even pitting on lap one can give you just enough tires to finish the race if you can avoid further damage.
Combos with other miniatures:
Of course combos only work when playing teams. Any car with +2 on Cruise speed, or a reroll on stand on it speed can be a good teammate, as the weeker of the two cars can draft with great effectiveness.
Ways to counteract it:
In team play, you can always block another car, but you risk damage to your own car. Drafting this car can be very wise, taking advantage of the high rolls of your opponent, and waiting for that rare opportunity when the 99 car gets two low rolls to pass with a STAND ON IT speed.
Strengths/Pros:
The only real strength is it's ability. Two options on every move is hard to beat, and can give you options of avoiding traffic, bumping, and damage, on every turn. This negates the need for driver, body, and engine checks if your smart.
Weaknesses/Cons:
The driver, body, and engine check numbers are not very good, but really not much of a weakness either when you consider the main ability.
Artwork and aesthetics:
A decent paint scheme. I give it a 8 out of 10 aesthetically.
Overall rating:
Try this car out and you'll see why I give this car a 9/10. If it had better check numbers, I'd give it a 10.
I'd like to see opinions on any other cars that you might think would be better, or even as good (other than the 2005 Kurt Busch #27of28 that has the same ability, as I have already written a review on this one that declares that I believe it to be the best car).
