Think you know Superman? With nearly 70 years of comic book adventures and countless screen, television and stage adaptations, we've only scratched the surface of the Last Son of Krypton's possibilities. Here's the skinny on two exclusive HeroClix figures available this summer.
DC HeroClix: The Man of Steel
The Man of Steel figure focuses on an aspect of his character not seen on previous Superman figures in HeroClix--his protection of friends and innocents. Setting aside the normal damage reducers such as Impervious or Invulnerable that might be on the first slot of a Superman, the Man of Steel instead has a higher defense value and the Defend ability that lets him extend that value to his allies--along with Hypersonic Speed and a high speed value that allows him to rocket across the battlefield to be exactly where he’s needed.
Yet when the Man of Steel is pushed or knocked deeper into his dial, he switches into a more offensive mode stocked not just with Super Strength and damage reducers but also with powers such as Charge, Close Combat Expert, and Flurry that let him deal significant damage and help clear the battlefield of opponents. Finally, late in his dial, the Man of Steel’s defense values skyrocket once again (until it is higher than even his opening value!) and Defend returns. If any of the Man of Steel’s allies are knocked out on the HeroClix battlefield, it won’t be because he didn’t try to protect them…
The Man of Steel also comes with a feat that will help him (or any character with the wing speed symbol) go exactly where he’s needed on the battlefield. The Look! Up in the Sky! feat allows a character to modify their speed value by +2 when they are given a move action. When the feat is assigned to a character, that character cannot carry other characters (they’re moving too fast!), but it does allow them to automatically break away from other soaring characters. Not a bad package for only 9 points.
