I pulled one years ago - when the boosters were readily available - and never saw a use for the darn thing.

I think the main use is for D-Day scenarios, and you can't have just one Higgins boat dropping troops.

Its amazing that they sell for $30 a piece on auction.

Are there maps that depict a beach for a D-Day scenario?

With the sell out of both CS and D-Day, one would think that a future set might have a re-release of some of those pieces. It would stink for the collector wanting to keep prices jacked up, but a godsend for those wanting to get a new stab at some hard to get stuff.

There aren't official maps that I'm aware of, but you might want to check for downloads on the official axis and allies site. I have seen many custom D-Day maps.

Also, a lot of players that need Higgins boats use other versions other than axis and allies. So I've heard.

Thanks, I'll look - think that would be an interesting scenario to play. I may take mine and make a mold to create cheap multiples.

There is a 21" x 32" beach map, it may be available on the wizards site as a pdf, I have 2 of them but one is slightly damaged...not enough to affect the game but it's not mint
