Used this fleet against my girlfriend - it was a brutal quick game

She was playing with the Shadow, the Royal Fortune, and Pandora with helmsmen and captains
She used the Pandora to collect gold, and split apart the Shadow and Fortune. I rushed the Belle Etoile and La Felicite towards that island and ran Le Courageux afar to get gold, feeling assured it's defensive ability allows this to run isolated for short periods of time. She loaded the Pandora, which I immediately demasted with La Belle and La Felicite (captain and cannoneer on La Belle came in good use there). After seizing the Pandora, she turned the Royal Fortune onto La Belle (was using Felicite as the tower) and quickly lost that skirmish as well, the Royal Fortune being towed by La Belle. Her ship Shadow, initially trying to chase after La Courageux, was now rushing to my home island to prepare to steal any gold I would have unloaded, but she realized that after I had repaired the Royal Fortune and the Pandora to use against her that it was unlikely for her to recover. She hadn't unloaded a single piece of treasure yet, and I had taken all that was on the Pandora and unloaded gold from La Courageux already.

She definitely made some mistakes (isolating ships), but I'd like to hear what you all think about this fleet.
My french collection is very small, which might some things about the fleet.

Sounds like a fun and interesting game you had there! You could post it in the Battle Reports thread as well.

I like how you made sure to capture opposing ships, a lot of people seem trigger happy to sink everything when it's often not the optimal thing to do.

As for the fleet, it's a solid simple one. Since speed trumps just about everything in this game, I would prefer a helmsman over the cannoneer. Since the Felicite is the slowest, you could consider putting the helmsman on her to make her more of an effective hybrid type ship. You're also at 39 points, so the final point would be put to good use with either an explorer on the Courageux, or an oarsman somewhere (if the Belle ends up with just her captain aboard, I would put the oarsman there for insurance).

Solid start, a tiny bit more optimizing and it would be even better!
