Google Translate don't fail me now!

This is a fleet for a7xfanben's Random Setup Tables fleet challenge. You can click that link for the rules before you judge me for not using 22 points. (If you don't want to click on the video, the core of the challenge is that you get 8 points for ships, and 10 points of crew)

Looking at the restrictive rules, I decided to follow an idea suggested by my girlfriend. Try and fit in a Chieftain. The benefits seemed clear to me. It would allow for a fleet trapped.. err challenged... by one of the heaviest restrictions in terms of ship choice 5 bonus ships! They offer a huge benefit for their price at any level of play.

First off, the canoes I chose to use are... not real. But they nearly were real, so they are allowed to exist in an existential hell for this challenge. Rather than using the Spanish canoes listed, I'm instead using the French canoes from RtSS. Stats listed below:

Tribal Chieftain & Native Canoes
RSS-018

French
Points: 9
Masts: X (Canoes)
Cargo: 1
Move: S+S
Cannons: 3S

Ability: Native Canoe. When this ship carries no cargo, she gets +S to her base move.

Not the highest cargo value. But they are good and fast, which is always useful. Especially if they need to try and escape in a pinch.

They are allowed on La Fureur thanks to Princess Arii Auraa. The 0-point, crew-cost-no-points crew are hard to use, but when it comes to storing a Chieftain, she is perfect. La Fureur should be avoiding combat at all costs, so her crew-flinging detriment won't come in play unless you were already screwed. And when being used to only place one additional crew on a ship, you don't run into cargo space issues.

After the building this fleet, I realized this is the perfect fleet for an Odin's revenge strategy. I knew about that strategy going into this, but I didn't follow that inspiration, as I have already made a fleet like that for another challenge. However, in a fleet challenge that begs for the Banshee's Cry to make an appearance, it's hard to argue against including it, where it makes sense. In this case, Odin's Revenge compliments the Native Canoes very well, threatening your opponent's gold runners, while completely ignoring the Canoes. This also allows my fleet to survive in the event of multiple copies of Odin's Revenge from other players. (The Oarsman also helps, but the canoes can continue to run gold like nothing happened which is much more useful) It also allows this captain-less fleet very good odds of at least being able to ram any two-mast ship to dereliction, following Odin's Revenge being revealed, allowing for better odds in a fight. (Three masters are present in this competition, though I suspect they will be very rare given their expensive price tags compared the exceptional two- and one-masted ships present in this meta). It does place La Furuer at a risk, but given her two masts, as well as her need to stay absolutely safe anyways, any further risk should be mitigated by your strategy to use her, in all but the most desperate hail-mary strategies.

The strategy for this fleet is fairly simple. Run as much gold as your can, before someone tries to stop you. I think La Fureur could try and run some gold close to home, but utmost care must be made that she can always return home in a pinch to keep your chieftain alive. Forts could be considered to defend gold gathered at a nearby island, maybe with the canoes dropping it off at the fort while the Fureur if ferrying it to the HI to be even safer, while keeping her safe. They also could give some offensive power to the map, even if they can't move.

Brilliant play with the canoes, especially since you can only really do it with the French ones. The Spanish don't have a 0-point crew, and the Pirate, English, and American canoes are all too expensive to use. I think this is probably the best fleet in the challenge (though I haven't seen El-Cazador's since he's made it private).

Good idea with the native canoes. I've always thought abilities like theirs were underrated; I see no problem with a ship like the Lynx moving out at S+S+S and coming back at S+S. Slower on the return trip, but still, those ships are usually quite effective for the points.

No captains could hurt you a bit, but with a whopping 9 "masts" for enemies to eliminate, combat could be a minor annoyance.
