Fleet "Hornet's Nest" Help
Fleet "Hornet's Nest" - 45 Points (standard format) show extended format
created by mercenary30

This pirate fleet is nearly unstoppable. I believe the weakest link would be the threat of Mermaids. Six ships is more than most ship hunter fleets can handle and they are just way too fast. Send out the five 1 mast ships in all kinds of directions to get some treasure home and as soon as the first gold hits your home island start popping up forts. By the time a second arrival of gold shows up at your home base, pop up the second fort and you should win the game.

The standard five extra points is Chainshot and Musketeer. If you are expecting a Mermaids, change out the Musketeer for an Explorer and Favor of the Gods.

The Red Curse is a very powerful gunship, and if you time things right you will get the jump on your opponent and nullify their big guns. Standard SAC captain tactics apply and don’t reveal anything (helmsman) you don’t need to use until the last minute; surprise is key. This ship's ability is what I call a ‘Home Island Thief’. Send her straight from your HI towards your opponents HI, challenge the biggest ship you can and then hit up their home base for some gold.

Only one treasure runner has an explorer. Won't that slow things down? A decent speed fleet can cover al ot of ground.

I put it on that one because it had an extra sail to protect it. That is the boat that should head for the closest island.....the rest will head out for the farther islands.....and build forts preferably.

You do realize that a mermaids event would render red curse imobile for 6 TURNS??!! There goes your 'suprise.' Otherwise, it's an awesome fleet!

I agree, but the fact that The Hag of Tortuga is in the fleet allows for flexability with the last five points, and if you suspect a mermaids trade the Chainshot for a Favor of the Gods or use the method I described in the description text.
