Considering the Spanish were "shafted" in OE, and I only used pieces I own, excluding generics, (although this includes one of their best pieces from OE, El Algerciras), I think I did a pretty good job. The fleet beat a Pirate fleet last night (my first game in a long time), although that was due in part to bad tactics on the Pirates part.

El Acorazodo: The beast of the fleet. Although considered inferior to the older version from the Spanish Main, she is very cheap. Ideal if you want to stuff a 5 mast into your build without taking away from other things.

Victor De Alva is particularly useful coupled with the Acorazado's +1 to boarding ability. You'll use it pretty often to, since you need to get within S to fire any of the Acorazado's cannons. You can also easily switch him out for a Captain+Shipwright+Cannoneer combo, or whatever suits your fancy.

El Algerciras: A very flexible ship, indeed. She can serve as an escort to the Santa Lucia or El Acorazado. If need be, she can strike out on her own as a commerence raider, or explore islands ahead of the fleet.

Not a true suppourt gunship or raider, she doesn't have the crew space or traits to be truly dedicated. A good fighter, though.

Santa Lucia: A fast little goldship. You may have to keep extra tabs to make sure she doesn't stray to far from her escorts, though. If you're feeling really cavalier, you can try and raid a treasure from the enemy Home Island. She certainly has both speed and cargo to do it.

Some shortcomings of this fleet are its varying speeds, and Acorazado's slowness and only one L-range cannon. However, you do have quite a few options available, from different crew choices to different roles and tactics of the ships.

I feel bad for this neglected fleet of mine. It has only 2 votes and no comments. Who knows what page it is stuck on, lingering in obscurity... Therefore, I think it is more than deserving of a good old-fashioned bump back to the top of the list and the spotlight.

Kudos for using all-OE stuff! Who knows, maybe that's why it was neglected in the first place, with some players having a burning hatred of that set (I don't). I don't really know what rating to give it. I don't feel that it would win very many games, but that isn't all that matters. Maybe a 3-4 for gameplay and a 4-5 for fun?

Pretty good for the Spanish, the El Acorazado seems slow, but in an all-OE match, S+S is reasonably adequate for a gunship. El Algeciras is a good first-strike ship, and Santa Lucia will likely collect a bit of gold while an opponent is occupied with the Acorazado.

Being all-OE, I think I would have preferred to see El Toro in the mix, just because it's a titan and we don't see too many fleets built around them, so it's perhaps a bit of a missed opportunity.
