Fleet "Baochuan Nightmare" - 69 Points (standard format) show extended format
created by nimbus930

This fleet was an exercise in making this ship a beast, as if 10 cannons wasn't enough. It is a 71 point fleet. So the easiest scenario would be a 70 point fleet +5 and you still have 4 points left over.

Baochuan: 30 points Junk & Treasure ship
10 cannons, all 3 or 4's

Crew:

Admiral Zhe: 6 points Explore w/in S and R6 get extra action.
Helmsman: 2 points +S speed (Now L+S)
Chang Pao: 4 points +1 cannons against non Jade rebels
Kian Ng: 4 points Kill cargo with every hit
Warlord Cavendish: 5 points Use Pirates & R5-6 same action
Havanna Black: 5 points Sacrificial Captain
Crimson Angel: 6 points R5-6 get second action
Li Quin: 0 points +5 fleet build
The Stump: 2 points All other crew minus 1
Phillipe Lafitte: 2 points You choose which mast hit
Lady Baptiste: 3 points Reroll

Total crew cost equals 39 points minus 9 due to The Stump, or the ship cost of 30.

Needless to say, Favor of the Gods is mandatory.

So you now have 4 potential actions per turn with SSSSLLLL move, 40 shots, all 2's and 3's, each shot kills cargo & you choose the mast. With the 4 extra points buy yourself some Mermaids and an Oarsman and really make your opponents miserable.

Oh, and did I mention that the ship itself is over one L long, increasing it's targeting range?

cool, but do you realize that between the tresure-ship keyword and the stump, you coud put an infinite number of explorers on as well, not very useful, but they can be killed for extra actions.

Favor of the Gods will remove your Mermaids card from the game unless you play it beforehand; so someone could still play Mermaids on Baochuan early on.

You could do the same thing for a regular ship, just use oarsmen instead of explorers

for benjown: the stump does not work this way! it doesn't reduce the crew cost, it only allows to put, for example, three captains on a ship with a point cost of seven: you can't do that per the standard rules: cap+cap+cap=9 points.... it isn't possible to do that, because they superceed the point cost of the ship. but with stump, they still cost 9 pts, but you can put them on the 7 points ships!!!!

for brendanpn: the oarsman ability does not stack: all oarsmen after the first take up one cargo space....

ciao!!! fede

Just a couple of quick clarifications for ziotoo4

1. It would be more accurate to say that The Stump and other similar characters don't reduce the fleet cost of crew. Any other crew that you place on a ship with this character still has its full cost relative to your fleet but not relative to the individual ship.

2. One of the unique characteristics of both the Baochuan and the Guichuan is that crew do not take up cargo spaces on these ships. It is a function of the Treasure Ship keyword. So technically with The Stump, you could pile an infinite number of Oarsmen onto the ship and the only negative impacts would be an increased fleet cost and an increased vulnerability to things like Mermaids or Rum.

It should also be said that this fleet is far less effective in a game with Mysterious Islands. If the Mysterious Island that allows you to draw an Event from your collection is in play, Mermaids can be brought back into play and this ship is toast.

why not use the oceans edge version of crimson angel? she is one point cheaper and gives you plus one for cannon rolls against non-pirates. then all your cannons would hit on roll of 3 or above
