This is 40+5 fleet used to go hunting. Both ships have the potential for extra/repeat actions and crew immunity. At SL, both are fairly fast. The key to winning with this fleet is to immediately wade into opponents with treasure fleets and to fight both ships in fleet formation. Resist the urge to go after other hunting fleets. You need to clear the field of treasure gatherers first. You potentially have 16 shots per turn and SSLL range for both ships. All of the cannons are 3's so your shot accuracy will be 50%. The Hudson has the added bonus of killing crew and The Freedom gets +1 against Pirates.

Increase your chances by putting nasty unique treasures into play to slow down treasure hunters, particularly sacrificial captains. Missionaries, Volcano, Natives and Wolves would all help. Plague would also be good, but watch out for it infecting your fleet.

In a 50 point fleet, trade the Hudson for the President. Swap the Freedom's Captain for Jonathan Haraden and add a helmsman to the President. Add Divers and Favor of the Gods. Both ships now have rerolls as well as potential extra actions and the President is even faster.

Nice fleet. A few to many 3 rank cannons but nice otherwise. I have found that even with our house rules where you get points for destroyed ships and the masts you destroy, you still need some gold in order to woin. But hey, with all those nasty treasures out there, it might work!

Yeah, this is a hunt first kind of fleet. You have to go tearing into your opponent and wipe them out before they can gather enough treasure to be competitive in the final count. In multiplayer games, the trick is to hunt down the treasure fleets first and avoid the other hunters. In a straight two fleet battle, it is simply a matter of going for broke. The cool thing is that the fleet is so fast compared to other traditional hunters, that your fleet can then dump crew and collect treasure even without explorers.

I am usually in games consisting of 8 players. usually in groups of 4, but if it was everyone in a game, I don't know if I would use this fleet because I wouldn't be able to get to everyone.
