Fleet "Merchants on the Run -- French" Help
Fleet "Merchants on the Run -- French" - 45 Points (standard format) show extended format
created by aprilbooks

This was a "League Play" fleet. Scenario was 6 players against the Privateer who was controling eight or ten "Merchant" ships and one "Ship of the Line" as escort (all Spanish).

Merchant ships contained various (non-WizKid) cargos, with various values (between 2 & 25). Merchant ships had to be boarded sucessfully for cargo to be taken. All cargo was lost if the merchant ship sinks. Cargo must remain on the capturing ship for the values to count toward a win. A Merchant ship arriving at destination is free from further attack. Scenario ends when all merchant ships are captured, sunk, or arrive at their destination. Merchant ships went from an island at one end of the table to an island at the other end. No player home islands were used.

Winning -- 1 point for each destroyed mast. 5 points for each sunk ship (merchant or otherwise). 1 point for each gold value on players ship at end of scenario. Player with most points wins. I won with 58 points, second place had 26 points.

What can I say -- it beat me! (and the only time I have ever came in as low as 3d place!) Your speed was even, you kept a tight fleet, and mixed it up well in the end. Shooting through several ships to take out the one you wanted was particularly impressive!

With seven players on the table and getting 58 points ... Great game!

Just a little nitpickiness; the Spanish didn't use "Ships of the Line." The "Ship of the Line" was the term used for large frigates employed by the English and ?French? The Spanish's big gunships were referred to as "War Galleons" or "Flag Galleons." Just a little bit of trivia
