Hardly a surprise, I'm sure, but I decided to use a variation of one of my UPS fleets. I've been futzing around with this thing for a week, and it's not what I'd call perfect but what the heck.
First things first, take a look at my opponent's fleet, and since we're all nation-pure, use the Hag to bring in 5 points based on what my opponent has brought to the table. If it's a non-Pirate or non-Cursed fleet, then substitute in the correct Letter of Marque. If my opponent hasn't brought any events, then trade in Favor of the Gods to either upgrade the Letter of Marque to Damsel in Distress or consider bringing in some extra oarsmen.
This fleet is designed to be fast enough to win on the second turn. I wanted to pair up two ships with +1 gold and +2 gold abilities. This allows me to send two gold home per turn, upping the value by +3 on each coin. Don Pedro allows me to trade away any rotten UTs or make sure I get enough gold coins to send home. I can win with only 3 coins, at +3 each then a 3, 2, 2 = 16 points. Or even 1, 1, 1, 1 = 16 points.
First turn:
1) Play Hidden Cove to move Banshee's Cry to an uncontested Wild Island.
2) Move away, redock and explore. Use Don Pedro to get rid of any bad UTs, or make sure there's enough gold to send home to win.
3) Use Jack Sparrow to trade one gold coin for the Explorer on the Bonnie Liz.
4) Use a move action to move the Bonnie Liz away and redock, unloading the gold coin for +3 value.
5) SAC the Explorer on the Banshee's Cry for another turn.
6) Move away and redock.
7) Transfer Genny Gallows to the Sea Crane as a free action.
8 ) Use Jack Sparrow to trade on gold coin for the Oarsman on the Sea Crane.
9) Use a move action to move the Sea Crane away and redock, unloading the gold coin for +3 value.
Second Turn:
1) Transfer Genny Gallows back to the Bonnie Liz as a free action.
2) Trade another gold coin for the Oarsman on the Bonnie Liz.
3) Move and redock the Bonnie Liz, unloading the gold coin for +3 value.
4) Move Genny Gallows and Powder Pete to the Sea Crane as a free action.
5) Trade the last gold coin for Powder Pete on the Sea Crane.
6) Move and redock the Sea Crane, unloading the gold coin for +3 value.
Problems:
No big gunships, all my ships are pretty fragile, particularly the Banshee's Cry. While Soul Mark will protect me from shooting, if any ship gets close enough to ram, I could run into some trouble there. My best counter here is just win as fast as possible. Hopefully most fleets won't be able to interfere with me in two turns.
Home island raiders. With such high-value coins on my HI, losing one or more could be problematic, particularly if I run out of crew to quickly transfer gold home. Again, my best counter here is just to win before anybody can get to my HI. If not, then hopefully I can catch the HI raider before she gets home, and if they have Parley on board as well, shoot and get the treasure back. I also included the Periscope UT to hopefully get around any pesky crew abilities, such as cancelers.
