I love The Cursed faction. The main type of game that I play is a treasure run/battle royale. Now the fleet that I built runs at 153 points. This ia a higher point game then most fleets that I see here are designed for, but my girlfriend and I have always played higher point games, because this allows the mayhem to last longer, and gives her a better chance with more ships. When she now has around 8 or so ships to my 5, she gives me quite a run, but The Cursed Rule!
This fleet was designed to do one main thing. Destroy! The Guichuan, Dutchman, and Loki's Revenge are by far the best gunships that The Cursed have. When you add the Death's Anchor to fleet it adds some extra protection. The problem with these ships however is that they are slow, which you can help a little bit by adding a helmsman to each ship. The thing about good gunships though, is that they don't always have to do the chasing. The other gunships will run away from their harbor and come to get either your treasure runner or your come to take out said gunships. This works in favor to the slow speed, but can be used as a decoy just to block and allow their treasure runners to grab the amount of gold needed to win.
The only way you really need to worry about losing with this fleet is by not getting enough gold. That's where I turned to the Pirates faction, because these guys are obsessed with gold and know how to get ahold of it quick. And none is better than the Hai Peng. She moves lightning quick and can scoop up a lot of gold if crewed correctly. This ship has 4 cargo already that increases when crewed with Gentleman Jocard, and stays large when captained by Captain Barbossa. You then have the spare room for an explorer and still have 4 cargo left over for all that beautiful booty.
The right crew for the gunships is crucial to a dirty victory. Davey Jones on the Flying Dutchman will allow you to steal the great abilities laid out on the board. you can takes the Hai Peng's +L if you have a captain for movement, the Loki's Longship for more cannon fire, or the Death's Anchor's Extended range to stay out of harms way and not need catch up to those pesky treasure runners. The Guichuan gets all L range guns with Albert Crenshaw and the SAC ability with Derrik, who also provides the world hater ability. Cavedish allows you to use these two and Joshamee lets you fit them all onto the ship with help from The Headhunter's ability of His Domain on the Guichuan. The oarsman are juicy bait to Derrik to destroy ships and move onto the next. And The Guichuan can always steal treasure with a boarding action if you really need to rid your opponent of some gold. And the Loki's Revenge has his own SAC ability with his own fodder and can steal from the Guichuan if it needs it.
I love The Cursed and playing bigger games is only way to really unleash their true power.
