Fleet "Vlad's Cinco de Mayo" - 85 Points (extended format) show standard format
created by vladsimpaler Premium Member

Well, I figure that there's one way, and only one way to pull off a Cinco de Mayo fleet, and that's to do a Spanish fleet.

First off, we have El Neptuno.

Now, I may only have a 33% chance of getting a hit, but if I do get a hit off and I'm lucky, the opponent will be a sitting duck because of Chain Shot. I also have a 33% chance of getting an extra action, which is NEVER a bad thing. 10 shots at L+L range? Sign me up. In more close quarters action, it has all rank 3, L range cannons.

Next, we have the LE San Cristobal.
Since we were required to put an equipment on each ship, I had to bite the bullet and pay for Inquisitor Sebastian Blanco. Now, this is the flagship of the fleet. I have a canceler, two chances for extra actions, and the devastating Exploding Shot. Luckily, because of Victor's link, I could fit everything on the ship.

Finally, we have El Cristal del Obispo.
She may not have the best crew, but she has got it where it counts: Survivability. She protects El Neptuno with her life, but can also go for offensive duty. With a 33% chance of an extra action, El Cristal del Obispo can do some damage. And with a stinkpot, I can eliminate any crew threats (like cancelers) without actually having a canceler.

This may not be the BEST fleet, and I'll probably be outnumbered, but this is still a pretty nice fleet, imo.

    Dios Mio!!

Nice ships, nice crew, pretty good balance. Though I like the Neptuno's cost, I just can't like her cannons. An alternative would be USS Atlanta: Same ability plus slightly better cannons. Oh, I mean, EL USS Atlanta--the Spanish version! Seriously, they could have changed Neptuno's name to El Bombastico! (OK, that wasn't seriously).

LE San Cristobal is nice except one problem: you don't have it!!! Nobody does! Well, one person does. But not you! I do think it is an amazing ship, and you would be crazy not to use her. Though, her non-LE version is also dang good!

And, I've always liked Cristal. One of the best. I'm surprised you broke away from El G and Acorazado, so that's good that you're trying out new combos and stuff. Very cool.

The problem with the USS Atlanta is threefold:

    1. Can't keep up with my speedy ships
    2. Costs more
    3. American crew, for a lack of a better word, and the fact that there are kids on this site, is total crud. I mean, I'm not paying 7 points for a flippin' SAT!

I don't really like the Neptuno's cannons, but she's got it where it counts: Support. If she's in the thick of battle, I did something wrong.

As for the LE San Cristobal, way to rub it in! Just kidding. Yeah, it's really stinking good, and the way I have it in my fleet is the way that I normally use it, except no Inquisitor, and no Equipment.

Also, I've also really like El Cristal del Obispo, but I've never really had many opportunities to use her. She's tied for my 2nd favorite 5 mast ship. (The Morning Star and the Neptuno are the competition.) Nice defensive ability, and FAST. Things I look for.

P.S. I don't really like El Garante, except in huge battles, and the same goes for El Acorazado. Hopefully other Spanish fans won't shun me after what I just said.

For some reason, I thought you liked those two Spanish staples. Huh. I love EL G, but only with El Raton and La Repulsa as back up, you know to improve those cannons.

I see the problem with USS Atlanta. The crew from OE to F&S are pretty skimpy for the Americans. Melting Pot, phsh.

I assume you mean, El Algericas.

It's not just from OE to FS, it's from CC to FS.

I dare you to find an extra action crew with the point cost of 5 or less. Unless the MI Montana Mays is 5 points...then less than 5.
