Fleet "ziotoo4's Fire and Steel" - 40 Points (extended format) show standard format
created by ziotoo4

Hi all!
Here's my attempt to create something good using only FS.

Firstly, since i was already running out of ideas, i decided to start using one of the nations that got shafted in the last sets: England.
England didn't got an eternal crew, nor parley. To be honest, they don't get good ships since OE, i think. They don't have any Sea Dragon...but they have Lord Mycron... I put Mycron on the cheapest possible ship: 12 points are really a lot, but, after all, only 3 abilities in FS provide an extra action, so, if playing only FS, Mycron is a good choice.

Then i decided to go with one of the new pieces: since FS ships aren't at the level of the ones from the other sets, i decided to create something using either a Bombardier or a Switchblade. And since i had only 28 points, and many nations didn't got a cheap captain in FS, i chose Draconum, with a captain that could provide a nice ability: it's Chris Moody, a crew that also allows to remove all crew when you win a boarding party. Just in case the boarding didn't go well, i added an oarsman to sacrifice if you roll bad. Lastly, since Draconum only moved L (+L with Mycron!) i added an English Letter of marque equipment to have parley, that guarantees the first shot. I picked the english equipment, but you can choose the one that fits better your opponent's gunship

With the last 7 points, i decided to pick 1 treasure runner, and i discovered that the best FS ship for our budget is the Jeux, that moves L+S each turn if he carries no cargo...not so good, but if we compare it with any other runner in FS, we discover it's far over the average speed and cargo ;-)

SO, you have: a Bombardier that can move L and dish out 4 shots, and a runner that moves L+S...
not so good, but considering you have Lord Mycron that can boost their move or give Draconum 4 extra shots, ths fleet suddendly becomes somehow better, and, since today i'm optimistic, i think it could win also with some of the weakest mixed-sets fleets.

A good start for beginners who began wasting their money on FS ;-)

ciao! Fede

note: i think an "equipment" section should be added to the armies editor...

(?-?) Moody supposedly sailed a ship under Black Bart before heading out on his own. Though little is known about Moody himself, his flag speaks volumes. On a background of blood red, a flying hourglass means life is short, a sword conveys Moody's fighting power, and a skull portends death, which was an apt warning indeed: Moody's "no quarter" policy meant death for all prisoners. He met his end by hanging at Cape Coast Castle in Cabo Corso, Ghana.

A very good fleet, Ziotoo, but one huge problem:

    The Hammersmith is Hostile: England.

Yeah, I noticed that too. An alternate would be maybe Captain Mysion, which unfortunately can't supply you with extra speed or move and shoot, but it will eliminate more of the enemy ship, maybe.

I like the use of Lord Mycron and he may be able to help your situation. You'll have to keep Draconum at bay until Lord Mycron drops in those extra two actions. Then, its time for FIRE!

Good use of cargo space and spreading the fleet out. I'd say change a little in your fleet, either to strengthen Draconum by getting rid of HMS Ram to keep Hammersmith, or tweak Draconum to keep Lord Mycron.
