Fleet "And there goes Mycron..." - 45 Points (standard format) show extended format
created by ziotoo4

Hi all!
I was wondering, as many of you, how i could include Lord Mycron into a 40 points fleet, without wasting 12 points out of 40.

ANd sudendly, the solution struck me: A flotilla! Flotillas, as Woelf (the official WK arbitrator) said, can actually carry crew, simply they don't have any cargo space. This was easily fixed adding Ismail, that adds +1 cargo.

The rest of the fleet is plain simple: there's a banshee's cry with an explorer, and HMS London, that will be the gunship towing the flotilla.

HMS London has the old captain aboard, and a SAC crew (Mercer), with plenty of SAC fodder: since a normal 40 points game lasts for usually 7 turns, you will have a free action every 2 turns.

Leave Jolly Mon sitting at your HI with the +5 crew onboard

The plan is the following:
If the enemy has 1 gunship and few runners:
HMS London moves normally towards the enemy gunship, while Mycron doubles the move of Banshee's cry (L+L+L+L!!!). This way, in 3 turns, you'll manage to go back and forth even the farthest WIld Island. When London is in proximity of the enemy gunship, reveal the SAC Crew, move S+S+S+S and then shoot with 8 cannons, eliminating also a crew (Tower's ability.

If the enemy has a weak gunship and a lot of fast runners.:
Use Mycron's ability from the beginning to pump London's move to S+S+S+S each turn. If you SAC, you should have 3 S+S boosts, meaning you will move S+S+S+S+S+S each turn. You should easily catch those pesky runners. Don't touch the gunship, and, while she sits in the water, unable to reach the london, take all treasure using Banshee's cry (remember also that, after all SAC hes been done, the London can pillage Pirate derelicts for free (see her ability), and since most of the runners are pirates.... ;-)

Favor of the gods is there to protect London from Mermaids. Still, if you opponent has no events, i'd suggest taking it away in favor of a Silver Explorer on Banshee's cry!

Hope you like this fleet, please rate and comment! :-)

ciao! fede

I'm not sure you're really saving any points here... if you put Mycron on a Flotilla, using him prevents you from giving the Flotilla any actions. So instead of wasting 12 points, you now have 18 points in your fleet that isn't able to take any actions. Although I suppose most of the time, if there's no target available for the Flotilla to shoot at, you wouldn't really be wasting the action.

If you want to use Mycron, the cheapest way is still about 10 points: HMS Patagonia + Robinson + Mycron.

If you can't find a Patagonia or Robinson... Hmm, nothing really jumps out looking at the 6-point ships, but for 7 points, the HMS Hound allows you to look at one face-down cargo a turn. That doesn't require an action, so you could put Mycron on there and peek at cargo every turn.

Hi Darrin!

I thought the flotilla combo was good because, most of the time, a flotilla can't do anything-she simpy follows another ship. Still, having 4 extra cannons towed by a 4 master is really good-and with the SAC action, Hms london can move S+S+S+S and dish out 8 shot.
Also, the strenght is that you can reach 3 actions each turn whatever happens.

I must admit that, read as it is, this fleet seems only average, but, if you have time, try it out on a real playing field, and you'll be amazed.

Also, i designed this mainly for me-because i can't roll a 5 or 6 for an extra action when i play...i'm too unlucky!

ciao! fede
