Fleet "His Majesty's Dragon" - 40 Points (standard format) show extended format
created by darrin Premium Member

Ugh. I'm about ready to give up on this fleet. There's no easy way to give that third action to Raptor Maw... I tried putting Emperor Blackheart on the Rover and Lord Mycron on the HMS Patagonia, and while that just barely fits under 40 points, it's still only 1 in 6 chance of giving Raptor Maw an extra action, and no room for a reroller. So let's try Commodore Rhys Gryffin Owen + the new Hermionie.

I'm not entirely sure if Owen + Mycron can stack, I'll have to check with Woelf on that. The odds of Owen rolling a 6 with both Hermionie and Diana on board... roughly 50%, so maybe not so bad.

Many thanks to thekidd142's "Danger Will Robinson" fleet for inspiring this one. He was working on a 60-point version, and I'm trying to get it down to 45 or 40 points. I would love to claim credit, but while I thought Mycron + Sea Dragon was a good idea, he came up with the Move + Shoot + Move combo. See the original post for details:

Also, many thanks to ziotoo4 for his original "Infinite is a very long word" fleet, and also for pointing out that my previous attempt was illegal.

Sorry, but your fleet has two flaws:
1) why copy an ability on a ship than anyway cannot move and shoot??? it would be more effective at 50 points-this way it's not really competitive.
2) there was a clear motive that made me use behemoth instead of Davy Jones: a sea dragon cannot be assigned crew, so, when you copy sea dragon's ability, davy jones is immediately eliminated.
Sorry...i didn't rate this fleet but honestly it has some flaws to be adjusted ;-)

Aha. I thought I had missed something... and then it got posted four times.

Thanks for catching that.

Hmm. Is there any way to delete fleets?

Sorry, my friend, but Mycron is Loyal:england, and so you can't put it on Banshee's Cry
keep working-great concept!

Good catch, thanks!

I'll have to ponder this some more, but this fleet isn't working out like I thought it would. I'm not sure giving three actions to a Sea Dragon is possible with only 40-45 points.

darrin, This is great! I had tried this idea myself using Angelica and came up with Le Coeur du Lion with Princess Arii Auraa, Gaston and Madame La Fontaine, but that gives much less chance of that third action than your idea. I had a few more points left over for Mermaids or Banshee's cry to haul treasure, but that 3rd action is the key. I'm not sure the dragon could eat up a bunch of little treasure runners before they got any gold home, but it sure would be fun to try!

Let me know how it works, if you get a chance to try it.

For small treasure runners, I don't think you'd need three actions, just two should work. Move + Shoot, and odds are good the smaller treasure runners won't be in any condition to shoot back. Three actions would be necessary to take on anything larger than three masts.

As Woelf pointed out in an email, though, with two actions, you could use a Swoop attack on your first action and then move out of danger with your second action. You'd have to have something to attack within 2L, but if you were very careful with your placement or used some other ships to block line of sight, you might be able to keep more than one target within range of your swoop.

Using this fleet, about 50% of your turns will give you three actions with Raptor Maw, so you could alternate between picking on smaller treasure runners when you only have two actions and then go after bigger ships when you roll that "6".
