I have some fleets I am working on for my venue for next week. We're going with 40 points, and no ship can cost more than 10 points!
So I am trying a kind of wolfpack fleet with the Pirates. The Icicle, Raven, and Royal James are all kitted out to attack and for speed. All three will go to one home island, a contended island, and attack en masse any ship that dares approach. The Raven will be the treasure runner as well as gunship. While the Royal James and the Icicle will be the front line fighters. The James will fire and kill crew while the Icicle will ram and board since she doesn't have anything to lose.
The Banshee's Cry will of course treasure run to the "safe" wild island.

I kept hearing about how great the Royal James was, but never actually knew what it was. Now that I do, I'm enthused. What a great ship!
This fleet is very good.
However, I must say that I'm not enthused about the Icicle. I suggest that you replace it with the Longshanks, and with the extra points you can buy the Rover or something like that.
The Icicle's pretty weak for 10 points. If you have them, I'd recommend the Eagle or Darkhawk II instead. Eagle + Captain Jack Hawkins is a pretty potent combo.
Yeah, the Icicle is kind of weak. Boarding really doesn't do much. I was hoping to use it but.....
Well, if I add a different ship I need one that will keep up with the other two. Now these seem a little odd but I am thinking of the following ships:
Cutlass (Rev. version)
Proud Tortoise
Dungeon
I am leaning towards the Proud Tortoise with Cap. Barbossa and the Jolly Mon to hold the Hag. Just to do something different. Or should I use a reroll captain?

Honestly, if I wanted raw power in this fleet, I would have taken the Pioneer and Eagle, but I didn't because I wanted to try something new and different.

Raven is 10 points, same speed, better cargo, much better cannons.
