Fleet "USS Mercury (Windcatcher)" - 45 Points (standard format) show extended format
created by captain_arrr

Here's a fleet I might play Tuesday using the USS Mercury, the SE Windcatcher. I have wanted to try using a Windcather, and the mercury seems the best candidate...and she's is a pretty vessel.

I outfitted the Mercury with speed and attack in mind, hence why she has the helmsman and a captain. moving at S+S+L she'll be faster than most vessels out there. I plan on hiding the helmsman as she escorts the Albany, and revealing it when enemy warships get within striking distance! I just wish I havd the points to either make her cannons better or at least get a reroll on her.

The Albany is my combo attack ship and gunship. She has enough cargo to hold a captain and helmsman to take treasure from the WI or to board and use its ability. Her guns are 2s so I don't think a reroll is necessary on this ship.

The Annapolis just runs treasure, plain and simple. With a built in explorer that's all she needs to do.

The Plan is to have the Annapolis treasure run while the Mercury and Albany go to the most heavily contested WI. The Mercury will the Primary engagement ship while the Albany provides backup and takes the treasure. If my opponent beats me to the WI, I'll simply board the vessel and steal the treasure.

USS Albany seems a bit expensive for 15 points. Any particular reason you're not using the Franklin? Same cannons, better speed, somewhat comparable cargo. Freedom or Louisiana would also work at 13 points, although you lose some cargo space and the cannons aren't nearly as good.

If you can get ahold of the Providence, you can go down to 12 points and can fit Haraden (Captain + Reroll) into the fleet.

The Almighty Tallest Purple (USS Hudson) would also fit at 12 points and is fast enough you can leave the Helmsman at home, but doesn't have as much cargo capacity.

I either already used those ships or everyone else uses those ships(ie Franklin). I usually like to use useful ships that most people don't use.

Plus I think the Albany looks cooler.
