Fleet "New Brit. Treasure fleet" - 40 Points (extended format) show standard format

This is a switch on my original fleet. htttp://www.miniaturetrading.com/im/showDeck/deck_id/22762 It's all about getting treasure quickly. The premise is the same as the last one, with a different ship switched out.

Speed is what this fleet needs and speed is what it gets. Spped and a decent cargo hold. These ships in the games I play need at least 2 cargo slots open for treasure. I don't need too many cargo spaces in the games I play since we use a lot of UTs.

The Swiftsure I am really proud of. Blake is linked to all English ships, Once the Explorers are unloaded It has 2 cargo spaces to get the best gold, if not all of the gold.

The HMS Trepassey is there because she's the fastest ship I can get for 7 points. She'll be going after my uncontested island since she could potentially be the slowest ship in my fleet. She also has 3 cargo spots so she should go home with the best gold.

The Aberdeen Baron goes to the most hostile Island out there. I am hoping her 5 masts makes people balk at engaging her. And with Myngs onbaord for the double action and Owen with a reroll, she should get to the island quickly and back. She can also take a hit or two and still make it.

The plan is to send the Trepassey to my safest WI to collect the gold there. The Swiftsure will go to either an uncontested or contested WI. She should get there first and hopefully get out before the enemy ships can bring their guns to bear.

The Aberdeen Baron will have the most dangerous mission. If there are no islands nearby, contested or not, she will be going out into "Uncharted waters", speeding towards any island that seems abandoned or forgotten. In the 2 player duel I plan on using this fleet in, she will go to the most contested island and hopefully her size will make people hesitate enough so she can get back before she is engaged severely.

I removed the captain because I figured it was a waste of points in the last fleet and with the Baron's cannons, she will still be a waste. Unless someone can argue otherwise.

Interesting... normally you see a 5-master and it doesn't occur to most players that it's a treasure runner. Taking the captain off is probably a good move: you want to grab the gold and head home as quickly as possible, and sticking around to fight would just slow you down.

This looks like a very effective fleet, but probably not that interesting to play... pretty one-dimensional gameplay. Then again, it's not like winning is a bad thing.

One question, though... you mention "once the explorers are unloaded". Could you explain your strategy here a bit more? If you're going to use a turn to unload the explorers and another explore action to fill up that cargo space, wouldn't it make sense to just take out the explorers completely?

The plan is to use the explorer and take all the gold I can. Then the next turn before I would leave the island I would unload the explorer, load another treasure, and then leave.
