Now, I have a very limited ammount of miniatures for my fleet, so I dont have many options. But using this 39-point fleet(I will explain later), I have decimated my freinds. I plan on testing it in a torney this april.

Now, the real linebacker in this fleet is the flying dutchman. Now, with a base move of S, he is not that good, but pair him up with a helmsman, John Paul Jones(for the extra action) and wayne nolan(to re-roll for missing the action), you can move 4S and still pound an enemy. Because of its impressive cargo space, it can hold a giant crew, and the crew it uses is many people combined. So, my total crew for it is John paul jones, wayne nolan, Hermoine Gold(ROTF), and Tabatha Mcwarren. Now, what I did not mention before with my crew was that Tabatha comes at a cheap 3 points and lets you put the cheap crew of other nation aboard. Hermoine has the captains ability, and the helmsman together, so she can save you a cargo space if you find anything useful on an island.

A great thing about the dutchman's cannons is that in the best case, you move s, move s, fire broadsides(destroy a ship) move s, move s, and fire again. This works great for taking out 2 ships in 1 turn, putting a great setback on the opponets fleet.

Now, my second ship in this fleet is the pirate-nation coral. Coming in at 7-points makes it very good for the S+L movement and the 3 cargo spaces it has.But also, with this ship comes my most humiliation secret. The only thing that would make this 39-point fleet a perfect fourty, would be to put a pirate explorer on the coral, which I do not have. Sad, is it not? I know I know! It is very sad to not have a pirate explorer, but I am not your top-notch collector, you know! The ability of the coral means alot though. Not being able to be fired apon during docking means being able to hide from big ships and not interuptions while loading cargo.

But back to the fleet. This fleet is great for using the dutchman to take many battle roles at once, and the coral to speed to islands and grab treasure. For all the times I have used this fleet(3-times)I have never lost.

Cons-
battle ship cannot hit ships with" this ship cannot be hit with L-range cannons" ability.

Overall Overall, I give this fleet a 6/10 because it has not many weaknesses, but my favorite fleet. The lower number is because of my lack for a pirate explorer, which should be included in here, I just dont own one.

Hi fleet_master!
As for the pirate explorer, here where i play we house ruled that generic crew are considered neutral, that is, they can go on any ship...
Before i start the critics ;-) (no, i like your fleet, really!) if you are a newbie, use the "search for a miniature" tool to get the cards i'm talking of.
Ah, and as a side note, crew with a cost of 0 can only board a ship with the same nationality, no matter if you have tabatha or not.
Anyway, i'll be as clear as i can: Broadsides attack is bad. This fleet is probably nice to play, and it can also often win. Not when playing in real tournaments.
Why? You will have those disadvantages:
1) your enemy will often be playing 5 points more than you. How? the + 5 ransom crew, that you didn't include. example: the hag of tortuga.

2)events. As you ponted out, Mermaids will cripple your dutchman in a second, and you don't have favour of the gods

3) when playing 40 points, you should try to board only crew wit the same nationality. Why? Easy: cancel Tabatha's ability and the half of your gunship strenght is gone. The "this ship's crew cannot be eliminated" can't help.

4) that gunship is not cost-effective. Let's compare it with the ship i'm using when playing normal games (not tournaments-you would face this fleet when playing at my venue)
I use an HMS Titan with some crew that allow me to do good things (look for ziotoo4's tournament fleet to get it all-i'm tired of writing ;-)
My titan has all 1 rank cannons, can do 4 actions per turn and move L+S a turn.
Your Dutchman only moves S+S a turn and has only rank 2 cannons, with a maximum of 2 actions per turn.

My advice is to throw away the whole dutchman: it's not a good ship...too slow and expensive.
When picking a gunship you have to choose a ship with defensive abilities (i.e. Eternal, Submarine, two hits to eliminate a mast, like El Acorazado) or a very fast one (should possibly move L+S+L+S a turn thanks to extra actions, and should have the chance of at least 3 actions a turn)...

Anyway, good fleet, not really effective, but it's a great start. I think you should work more on speed-and really, broadsides attack eats a lot of points and is not very effective.

Gave you a 4...because you look very promising...but keep on making new great fleets!
