Fleet "Predesigned does not mean good" - 40 Points (extended format) show standard format
created by mercenary30

This is an experimental fleet that I designed to test the possible usefulness of the HMS Algiers and its link to Sir Watkins Defoe. At one point I had made an assumption that these cards were linked for a reason beyond the story line, and I held on to that belief for a bit. I no longer think so considering Calico Cat’s link to Lady Scorn(reroll on a broadsides ship), Dragon Eye’s link to the Typhoon and the crew nameless (14 points of crew on an 11 point ship), and Don Osvaldo Guillen’s link with Santo Columba (Both have S boarding).

With that in mind, I have a 40 point fleet here with only 5 sails. Two runners and a fight’n ship, or more likely the colonial version of a patrol cruiser.

Treat all three ships are they are designated, but just don’t run up to the first five master you see with your HMS Algiers and try to take him on. Take advantage of its speed and ability to ignore terrain to keep oversized opponents away. The Algiers is quite capable of handling three masters or less, and possibly a four master if your dice rolls are going your way. Make sure you have the commodore reroll for that extra turn.

not a bad fleet for 40 points. You might want to try to replace starbuck with something with a bigger hold if you can.

Algeirs is a fun ship, thought about using it myself but never had the right support for it. I like playing with some of the less used ships and a lot of them like the algeirs have interesting stories and add flavor to the game.

i'm not sure about the starbuck though... its neat but far too overcosted

One idea: Put First Mate Ismail on the Starbuck to give it more cargo. Trim points as you see fit. Like the explorer and helmsman. Just a thought.
