I really really wanted to do a Cursed Fleet and be super original - I love Sammy the Skull - but eh no helmsman. =)

In this all Pirate Fleet for Dakmor's contest, the focus is clearly centered on the Morning Star. The ship's ability and coconut's reroll should negate the potential loss of masts. I wish I could fit an oarsman on, but alas no points are left. Moving S+L, it should be able to interfere with most other ships from the set not under the helm of Luis Zuan. Destroying any gold runners would be first priority, although if a fighter gets in the way or an unexplored island, all the better. Though limited with only S guns, her speed and Hammersmith should make that only a small problem.

The Sea Lizard is there because it can go ether way: without a cheap captain, its offensive ability is limited, but getting off just one hit will make it worth it. Working in conjunction with the Morning Star (and maybe using it as a shield at times!) it can work as a support gun ship, although a fragile one. It can act as a secondary gold ship too, even at a very slow L, depending on what the opposing fleet is doing. If the Morning Star uses Coconut, the Sea Lizard may reap the benefits.

The main gold runner is the Amity, who can get there quick and hopefully defend itself if it runs into trouble on its slower way home. If the Morning Star does its job, it should have a clear path home.

Enjoy and vote on all the entries! Thanks to dakmor for running this!

thats an alright fleet. im a bit unsure of mysion. 5 chances to roll a 1, and it already has decent fire power.

so i dunno, 3 points could have been spent on like, oarsmens.

we'll see how it does in the voting.

I'm all about the gamble. 5 chances to roll a 1, but 5 chances to roll a 6 =) Besides, who doesn't love a monkey on your ship! =) Coconut + ship ability can negate a lot of potential ones.

The Morning Stars continue to prove they're worth what you pay for them on ebay. I particularly like the setup of this one - Coconut with Mysion is a great combo that should yield a result or two.

The Sea Lizard doesn't look like much, but, as I learned with her French counterpart, the Lezard, looks can be deceiving. If kept safe, her gun may speak volumes during the end game.

Amity might get to the gold quickly, but she'll be frightfully slow on the return trip, so I'd probably look around for a quicker treasure runner, even if it costs a little cargo space.

I gave you a "4". Very similar to my fleet, but seeing Captain Mysion was a surprise. Sea Lizard I'm not so sure is worth it... my Pillage can ram her, but if the ram fails she's got a 50% chance to derelict me. I would anticipate that winning or losing with this fleet would involve a great deal of luck.

Luck (and dice rolls) are always needed for winning =) I remember this when my two master took out the fully sailed and crew Divine Dragon in a game not long ago heh.

I do wish there was a faster treasure runner. But I think the only other pirate ship that can move S+L (and was less than 11 pts) had 2 cargo. Amity has over double, and travels just as fast half the time. With over half the points in the Morning Star, it was hard to fit two more ships in that fit their roles well, unfortunately.

Heh, excessive use of LE ships? I don't think the rarity of the cards were an issue for this contest: it was using the whole set, not what cards you have or what cards everyone has.

A solid fleet. The Sea Lizard feels like a bit of a throw-in, but there's not much else out there I guess. The Morning star can't fit anything else aboard and proabably doesn't want to waste the time towing the Widowmaker, and the Amity can't afford to carry crew or tow the Widowmaker. I'm not much of a fan of the suppourt shields, so I'd say the Sea Lizard would be better off being a slow gold runner, like you mentioned in your description. Whatever the enemy is doing - that is always important for a fleet.

I'm like the combination of Mysion and Coconut alot. Great philosophy there- very solid. As you say, luck and dice rolls are always needed for winning. Most others seem to use Coconut for one role or the other, and I think it's great you mentioned being able to use him to help out your gold runners a bit. I'm going to give you a 4. Good Job!
