Fleet "Barbary Numbers Game" Help
Fleet "Barbary Numbers Game" - 60 Points (standard format) show extended format
created by mercenary30

Finally, a Barbary fleet that can win games!
This fleet is designed to take advantage of the speed of the Barbary Galley. Six boats in a sixty point fleet is a very good number. Three of them are crewless and the other three have a role assigned to them.
The Terror of Gibraltar is the explorer ship. With the ability to move 3S possibly 6S in a turn, it will head for the nearest island and start exploring. The plan is not to take any treasure, but to leave the island wide open for the other ships. At the same time, any mandatory Unique Treasures will need to be dealt with.
Tiger’s Eye is the closest this fleet will get to a gunship. It has the best heels of all the boats here, and the Captain to allow it to put up a fight. Don’t ever challenge head on, but keep this boat between your closest ships and your opponents gunships and be prepared to lose it.. If you do, Raft comes into play to try to save the crew for another galley to pick up the slack.
Queen of Sheeba is second in line for the Captain if necessary, or the Terror. Otherwise the Queen can hold lots of cargo.
I use Hidden Cove with this fleet, and unless there is obvious advantages to using it on turn one, I usually use it on turn two. Either use it to get the Terror exploring right away, or to scoot one of your other ships past enemies or obsticles.
The last little bit of advise for this fleet, is when you pick up gold, try to put a balanced amount on it. When (not if, but when) your opponent sinks your treasure runners, you can split it evenly. Once gold hits your main island, you can begin to build forts to end the game very quickly.

I can see this tactic working well, unless it is expected. Then it wouldn't be hard to set up to defeat it.

Nice surprise or changeup fleet.

Nice job! I like it. I've been scouting Barbary Corsair fleets for my next fleet submission, and its hard to pick something different than what others have done, though. I like the number of ships you have, very true their historic nature. Galleys and Corsairs are best used when they can swarm and outnumber.

However, I liked to see a completely aggressive Corsair fleet, if its possible. . .(this last comment is not a criticism of your fleet, just a personal thought).

I wonder what this fleet would look if you restricted your points to 40 points.
