Fleet "Squalo's Raiders 32 points" - 37 Points (extended format) show standard format
created by captain_arrr Premium Member

This is one several Sea Monster fleets I want to get people's input on.

This one is pretty much a Cursed fleet except for the Rover. The Cursed has no +5 crew.

Pretty much the Sea Duck would treasure run and the Fang would attack enemy ships with Squalo as backup. Squalo would stay near the fang to get its movement bonus. I could also use the Fang to get Squalo at a WI to stay and guard it from enemy treasure runners.

Another idea is to give the Fang a Cannoneer and downgrade the Sea Duck to the Nightmare with a helmsman. Any thoughts?

I like the all Cursed idea. I think your points are kinda strange. I haven't had any 32 point games, so in a 40 point game, you'll be at a disadvantage. What are looking for as of input? Are you able to use SRs, LEs, SE, and etc? What is the main goal of your fleet?

    Here's some options to consider:
    1. Move Serpent's Fang out. Put in Nightmare #145 SE from DJC. Her base move is S+S. Put on Sargasso Nightmare. With a Captain and Helmsman, your at 25 points. Then, all four ships are at 40 points and you still have the Hag to give you 5 extras. (check my math). The NIghtmare will have S+S+S to keep up with Squalo's L+L speed (because of Sargasso).

    Nightmare
    ----captain
    ----helmsman
    Squalo
    Sea Duck
    Rover
    ----Hag of Tortuga

    2. Keep your original design, but substitute Mist Walker for Squalo. Its speed is already L+L, costs an extra 5 points over Squalo, and using Sargasso NIghtmare or Serpent's Fang will give you L+L+L speed. Thats good for a first strike or a "Just letting you know I'm in the middle of the board" move. I think with the Hag, you'll have 42 points now. If you eliminate your Captain and used OE El Fantasma (move and shoot+SAC), you're at 44 points. Buy an Oarsman for the SAC and you're at 45 points. (again, check my math)

    Serpent's Fang
    ----El Fantasma
    ----Helmsman
    ----Oarsman
    Mist Walker
    Sea Duck
    Rover
    ----The Hag of Tortuga

Why 32 points? With Sea Monsters being some of the most overpriced units in the game, wouldn't 40 or 50 points allow you to include some of the bigger monsters?

The points were randomly rolled with 2 dice.

It's a standard game for us. We get points by collecting gold, as well as for eliminating masts, capturing ships, and sinking ships.

I know the point cost is low and odd, but it is what we randomly rolled and agreed to.

Interesting with the die roll. Is it a sealed game, or do you bring your favorites with you to play?

Sometimes we roll randomly for the total points. And its not sealed, we make up our own fleets to use. It's fun because it breaks up the monotony and it really makes you think, especially if it is a low point fleet or has a weird non-round number.
