Fleet "Fast and small Pirates - 30pts" - 35 Points (extended format) show standard format
created by algorab Premium Member

This little, fast ship is what I came up with for a match last night. I won...
It's a riedition of a well known and known fleet. Neptune's Hoard is intended to chase treasure runners, while Banshee's Cry and Raven clean the Wild Islands.
Rover should better stay docked at our HI (keeping safe our Ransom crew), or recover some treasure from the nearest WI, provided there aren't enemies close at hand...

Why the Raven instead of Bloody Jewel or Longshanks? Is the S+S+S speed really that much better than S+L?

(The Star of Siam would also be cheaper for S+S+S, but is harder to get ahold of.)

Are 30 point matches fairly common at your venue? I thought most venues stuck to the standard 40-point format.

As I said I came up with this fleet at the moment of playing... Raven was at hand at the moment. Anyways, my mates play very fast fleets, and against them moving S+S+S instead of S+L makes difference. Same situation for cannons: Star of Siam is cheaper, but she has awful ones. Raven's 2S,2S came handy at the right moment.

Just look at the mess of the last turns...

We usually play 40 points as well, but lately we are fond of short, fast matches, usually 30 points. They are good for teaching new players, you avoid cheesy or overcosted combos, but focus on the basics of the game: get there quick, grab the gold (or fight for it), bring it home.

Subject: Wasn't Rover FAQ'ed?   Posted: July 12, 2008 11:39 pm Reply with quote  Report content icon

I thought they faq'ed that ship's value as 12 rather than the 2 printed on the card?

I could be confused.... or even...gasp...wrong
