Fleet "La flotte française de Tickler" - 40 Points (extended format) show standard format
created by mercenary30

French can fight and run treasure and here is my proof.

Le Boneparte, at least the Davy Jones version, is the mother of all spoilers. This one has the possibility of an extra action with Amiral Stephan Dupuy, a reroll to improve the chances of getting it with Madame LaFontaine, and the L+S+S speed to allow her to run up on your opponents gunship and "tickle" them into submission. Oh and did I mention that being safe at short range makes it really hard for your opponent to stop the torture?

In the mean time, use Hidden Cove to get L'Intrepide over to a wild island. Make sure you leave the explorer there when you are done gathering gold. The intention is for the speedy Le Pique to pick the crew up and continue on to the next island while L'Intrepide heads for home.

When Le Bonaparte is finished with your opponents bully, send her after the treasure laden boats and snag some booty with Divers.

I greatly applaud your use of DJC Le Bonaparte, but I would advise you to consider crewing her with sacrifice captain Capitaine Arathiel as outlined below for more reliable extra actions and a more economical cost.

    DJC Le Bonaparte 16
    Capitaine Arathiel 5
Claude Pierre 3 (reveal for helmsman and then sacrifice later)
Vicomte Jules de Cissy (sp?) 0 (+5)
    Oarsman 1

I personally would replace L'Intrepide + Explorer with Le Bon Marin (one more cargo space but one fewer mast) but that's just my preference. Both your runners are solid choices.

Nice work overall! Good to see someone else who plays the French on occasion!

I use Le Boneparte almost exclusively in my online tournaments. I have a different fleet built around her, but she is a great ship to stop the nasty multi-turn fleets.

I enjoy changing things up and I play all the different nations in this game, but I do have a soft spot for French and American fleets.
