Fleet "Spanish Long Guns" - 45 Points (standard format) show extended format
created by mercenary30

This is an agressive fleet, but each ship has extra cargo to take on some stolen booty.

El Neptuno has double range cannons, a +1 world hater, and a 1 in 3 chance of getting an extra action. With the speed of S+S+S she is going to be a serious threat. A 1 in 3 chance of hitting at L+L range is quite dangerous. Luis Zuan on board as a captain with +1 against all but Spainards gives the cannons a 50/50 chance to hit making the El Neptuno a great ship for the 12 points spent.

La Serpiente also has double range cannons and decent cannons when in close range. The L+S speed is fairly normal.

El Afortunado is slow but cheap. She still has two cargo spaces and can move as well with or without her sail.

Use the Hidden Cove to get El Afortunado out to an island to explore. Leave at least one gold coin or positive Unique treasure for La Serpiente to gather.

If you run the fleet together, you can use your long guns to keep enemies at bay. If they start to get to close send El Neptuno out for a fight.

Keep La Serpiente's guns in range of El Afortunado, she is too slow to be left undefended.

If your opponent is a pure treasure running fleet, leave El Afortunado to herself, and send both the other ships out to harrass your opponent. La Serpiente should set up a blockade and El Neptuno should get agressive on the runners. If they are all small masted ships, you may even be able to derelict a few a turn if they get in range.

Excellent theme idea! The way you tricked out El Neptuno is most impressive and would surely give even a well prepared enemy a headache.

The only choice here that I take issue with is El Afortunado (the ship you're planning to cove out). With what crew you have on her, you're paying seven points for a ship that has S+S speed and only two open holds. Also note that you cannot explore the wild island you cove out to on the same turn, thus, the explorer is obsolete. Save a point and go with the speedier La Rosario for six points.

Excellent use of the L+L range ships. Though it does take a natural 6 to hit at L+L (1 in 6 chance, not 1 in 3).

Actually, in the FAQ Woelf stated that the bonus does apply to the dice roll for long range guns, so the hit on a 5 or 6 is correct.

Thanks mercenary30, I missed that update in the FAQ. Sadly I can't get it right now since the FAQ is unavailable.

This is a really great fleet, first and foremost! : )

Ways to shave points off of this fleet:

Remove the MI Luis Zuan for the RotF one and the LE BC Devante del Nero.
You won't have any spaces left, but you save one point.

Remove Hidden Cove, the helmsman, and El Afortunado, but keep the Explorer.

With the 9 points that you have remaining, include Master Bianco and La Rosario.

Thanks for the kudos.

Those are some nice ideas, vladsimpaler, I don't have the LE Devante, but still, this is some good stuff.
