Miniature Trading

While not terribly practical, this fleet would be amazingly fun to play. The theme here is that only French ships that have been ‘possessed’ by the Cursed via the Black Mark keyword are used.

All things considered, this fleet has some decent potential. Le Bonaparte is a fantastic gunship that packages great speed and a devastating ability along side the sacrifice extra action of El Fantasma and the delightfully evil ‘move enemy ship L on a 5 or 6’ ability of Jean Desailly (the Black Mark crew). L’Intrepide serves as a decent runner and is meant to be moved to the nearest wild island at the start of the game by the Hidden Cove event.

While L’Intrepide certainly will not gain sufficient gold to win the game, the addition of gold picked up via the Divers event (hopefully played after Bonaparte wrecks havoc on the enemy’s runners) gives this fleet a fighting chance. If you roll well with Jean Desailly, things could get very interesting indeed!

Here’s a quick note from the most recent FAQ that explains how the point cost of Black Mark crew apply to fleet and ship build totals.

Q: Does the extra point for using Black Mark apply to the build limit of the game and/or to the point limit of my ship?
A: The extra point from Black Mark applies during setup when the crew is placed on a ship, like other point reducers or modifiers. Therefore it applies only to the point limit of the individual ship, not the build limit of the game.

My question to you: Is this technically a Cursed or a French fleet?
