miniature review El Acorazado: Should I...or should I not?
Two hits from the same shoot action are required to eliminate one of this ship's masts.
The Capitan of "The Battleship," pride of the Spanish fleet and perhaps the strongest ship ever built, claims that not even the devil himself could sink her. The mysterious pirate El Fantasma, however, may soon test that boast.

El Acorazado Should I...or should I not?

In my opinion, the El Acorazado is the best Spanish 5-master in the game, and it well deserves that title, having the ability to take in 11 shots before going to Davy Jones' Locker. Of course, there are always exceptions, huh? Ships like Le Bonaparte and crew like ability cancellers and firepot specialists could quickly ruin this ship's day. However, this ship also has the trump card of making you or your opponent think: Hmm...is it really worth it to attack that ship? I could lose some ships in the process!
I would use this as its namesake, a battleship. Its ability to withstand so many hits makes it able to stay in the game longer than most 5 masters.
Strategies and game play:
Load it with a bunch of crew (and use fotg!), and then steer it towards the front lines, where the fighting is the toughest, good thing that this ship can take the punishment!
Combos with other miniatures:
Combos are (most obviously) with Joaquin Vega, who allows you to ignore the first hit as long as you have all of your masts, Nemesio Diaz, who can cancel abilites. Also, a captain, a helmsman, and perhaps the same action twice Capitan Alarico Castro. Although, I like to use the BC LE Commandante Antonio de Silva, who has broadsides, enabling you to dish back some hefty punishment to those who thought that they could get the upper hand.
Ways to counteract it:
Use mermaids providing that they didn't play fotg, run away, use a firepot specialist, or use a ship that can't be shot at within S.
Good cannons, great ability, and the price allows some good crew on.
The price, S speed.
Artwork and aesthetics:
It's typical Spanish, I like it though.
I give the 'Battleship' a 9/10. It would be a 10/10 if it had L speed and 2l's instead of 3l's, but otherwise, it's good.

I paid 9 bucks for one at a local store, and it was totally worth it! I use it with at least a broadsides attack captain, a helmsman, a shipwright, and a oarsmen. I took a broadside from a 5-master, then went into a fogbank, repaired, then instantly sank that 5-master with my broadsides attack. Sweet.
vlad, I saw that you modified this review recently. What did you change?
Hmm…Broadsides Attack. It's the ability you love to hate. It's tough deciding on Broadsides because with only one dice roll, it stinks knowing you missed a chance to hurt the other ship. But the Acorazado's ability allows you a chance to miss since she can take some extra hits.

this was the first spanish ship i got and i knew it was rare and searched around a little and found it was harder to get than most rare ships. and guess what, my brother dropped a footbal (best sport ever) on it and broke the 2 back sails . great ship and great review
This is actually not a bad little review - it covers all the pertinent points and is well-structured. It seems a little brief for MotW, but maybe that's a good thing - more material doesn't necessarily mean better quality.
One point that needs to be updated is this line, "Use mermaids providing that they didn't play fotg". Way back when this review was written, Favor of the Gods was probably being used to eliminate all events, played and unplayed, as I recall the initial rulings on it. It's a simple correction, though, just read, "Use mermaids, hoping that they don't play fotg."
All of my worst memories from this game are this ship, the constitution, and my cousin not playing with any rules so he could get 5 actions on the French bombardiers. Hate hate hate.
Great review though!
