Elite Snowtrooper
written by capttypho

General description:
Only one of the single square Stormtroopers have more that 20 hit points… and can therefore survive more than one lightsaber hit… the Elite Snowtrooper. When the Stormtrooper becomes elite, most of his abilities go up, but his cost also doubles. When the Snowtrooper become elite, all of his stats improve… including defense, but at less than double the cost. The result being is that when you are building your team, you need to decide between the better attack of the Elite Stormtrooper and the better survivability of the Elite Snowtrooper.

Uses:
Elite Snowtroopers are a natural choice for terrains with limited or no cover. These troopers are better defended and can last longer in a fight without cover then their counterparts the Snowtrooper. In open terrain, Elite Snowtroopers will do better than Elite Stormtroopers for just one more point in cost per figure. If you are buying Elite Stormtroopers anyway, but have one or two points left over, think about upgrading some of your Elite Stormtroopers to Elite Snowtroopers.

Strategies and game play:
Use Elite Snowtroopers when you need some extra firepower and your terrain has limited or no cover. Elite Snowtroopers are also good troops to resist Lightsaber Sweep. After the first sweep, they will still be there to fire back.

Combos with other miniatures:
Elite Snowtroopers definitely need Stormtrooper Officers to up their attack pluses. Keeping a regular Stormtrooper around to combine fire with an Elite Snowtrooper also adds attack pluses and as a result is important to insuring that the Elite Snowtroopers do their 20 points of damage as often as possible.

Ways to counteract it:
Elite Snowtroopers make excellent AT-RT or Senate Guard targets. Both Rebel Chewbaccas make good Elite Snowtrooper killers. Keep your Chewy at a distance and move a square each time you fire to get the +10 damage modifier. Both Chewy’s have good attack bonuses, so they are likely to take out an Elite Snowtrooper a round.

Strengths/Pros:
Above average defense and hit points. Good damage.

Weaknesses/Cons:
Average attack bonus. Apparently the extra white extension under the helmet makes it more difficult to fire the weapon.

Artwork and aesthetics:
Easy to identify from the other Stormtrooper types with it’s specialized weapon and armor.

Overall rating (1-10):
I give this miniature a rating of 8.
