General description:
At 72 points, the JL Rookie Icicle is destined to appear on everyone's team. All of this due to the Special Power "Copcicle" which lets him use barrier and incap a fig as well. It makes Icicle leap from "pretty good" to "necessary" for many teams.
Uses:
For example, during the first Starro round, I was facing Dr. Polaris on hindering giving him a 20DV. The Copcicle power doesn't care. Icicle placed three bits of barrier around Polaris and the good doctor was pushed. No roll was needed, and the 20DV was easily overcome.
And he keeps the power, so don't worry about pushing him if the moment is right. Given the right type of map, like the bank vault in JL games, Icicle has the potential of pushing or incapping more than one fig with a single well placed barrier. How sweet is that?
Combos with other miniatures:
The IL team ability makes Icicle fit in well with an IL or Calculator team for that attack. Icicle is purely a support piece, and could benefit with some support himself. Pairing him with Abra Kadrabra and Merlyn makes for wicked trio. Icicle to incap and block LOS to Merlyn, Merlyn and Abra Kadabra to follow up on the next turn. Only the JL Superman was able to thwart this with his hit and run to hide HSS.
Weaknesses/Cons:
The biggest drawback is that six range, so getting some Perplex from Abra Kadrabra helps. Chances are his mastermind (Not a nice guy) clix are wasted points unless there's a pog or two on the team you don't mind getting offed to keep him around. He's a big enough of a threat that other figs will have to pay attention to him, perhaps allowing for a devastating move while they're occupied with Icicle.
Artwork and aesthetics:
Given the uneven nature of the sculpts lately, Icicle looks pretty slick. He'd certainly fit into any Infinate Crisis team you're building.
Overall rating:
An Icy Nine for the Icicle. Potentially a major player in any game, with reasonable costs should have him seeing a lot of play in the very near future.
