Ra's Al-Ghul (Demon's Head in Arabic) heads a worldwide crime organization dedicated to purifying a world tainted by humanity. Seeking a suitable mate for his daughter Talia and heir to his empire, he turned to Batman. The Dark Knight refused and the two have been bitter enemies since. Ra's claimed to be centuries old, his life sustained and renewed by the Lazarus Pit. The power of the Lazarus Pit comes with a price, causing madness and superhuman strength immediately after use. Ra's was a master swordsman and his encounters with "the detective," usually ended in a sword duel. But it was a brainwashed Talia who finally killed Ra's in at the end. Whether he can come back again is yet to be seen.
