Subject: Man overboard!!   PostPosted: Fri May 01, 2009 1:24 am Reply with quote

I must confess I am not a Premium Member(being of Scottish descent, I have short arms and deep pockets), but up until now I have been getting all my messages regarding prospective trades in my Hotmail Inbox, that is, until recently. The last couple days I have not been receiving anything from MT(not even confirmations of my own messages) - it would also seem like it is just me, for when I log in to MT I can see that I have been sent replies to my messages. Can anyone suggest why this would happen all of a sudden? To my knowledge, I have changed no settings or added any filters to my Hotmail account, I'm not that much of a computer whiz, so I am stymied. Confused Confused

(Hold on brettscho, I really do want to deal for your Deck Cannon!)

Ditto for me, and it's not a filters issue, nor are they in my junk folder.

Always worked fine before!

No problem - I don't know why my messages aren't coming through. Now if there was only a way that i could directly give you my email address without giving it to everybody...

I got an automatic trade message yesterday. First in a while. I just figured it was because no one is chaging their info as nothing new is coming out.

I would check the spam filters of the site that is hosting your e-mail accounts. These get updated regularly and something that was not picked up as spam before, may now after the update look like spam.

I used to have that problem with Yahoo mail, still do occasionally, that's why I never automatically delet my spam. I give it a quick glance to make sure nothing important is in there.

Well, admin was switching things over to a new web provider. And, he does stop by every so often, but he's set up heralds to make reports on issues, which I stop by every day (I just don't say much, sorry, I should make more of a presence).

However, the email issue is not new. Its happened to me a couple of years ago. Suggestions are to check your spam folders (if there is a message from MT, click the "not a spam" option), junk folders, and be sure you're just checking your regular emails. If you log into MT and notice there is a new PM, be sure to click on it right away and check it off, because if you are not a Premium Member, you won't be able to see it again.

On that note, let me just advocate the Premium Membership (this is not a sales pitch). I've found the Premium Membership really useful, and pretty inexpensive. Plus, you get free months if you provide data for new releases and if your miniature review is selected. I'd say, try it out for a month and see if you like it.

I was not paid or endorsed by admin to make this message available. Arrow Confused

i use MSN (sooooooo much better than IE, plus built in DL manager), so even when i get junk email it shows up on my email count. so i know if it's in there or not. And at Col, pleeeeeeeeeeeaaase sticky the rules thread. (and you will see this if you check daily) Wink

I received a notice of a PM here from someone last week wanting to buy cards (didn't catch who) - and I did not receive the email in my hotmail acct. like usual....

It was neither in junkmail, nor autospammed. No filters are set other than that I have previously marked mail from Minitrading as 'safe' and 'not junk'.

I Haven't changed addresses, providers, or browsers... the mail just never came, like they always have before.

I believe that the mail was simply never sent by the system on this end.

I have no complaints though, as I am free here.

Yeah, although technically I can complain, being a premium member ( not that I paid for it, in the conventional sense-I wrote content ), but this is a great site. I stopped uploading trade displays because it got a bit to tedious, but one of these days...

I just uploaded HMS Endeavour for trade ( only 41 people are looking for it, putting it at #6 ), if anyone gets an email, please post! Very Happy

EDIT: Oh yes, please sticky the rules thread. Wink Laughing

SIDE TOPIC:
Well, here's the thing: there are already 6 sticky threads. One of these will need to go if you want me to sticky the Rules Questions Thread. I haven't stickied it because it remains on the top 5 most recent threads for quite some time, so its already on top.
Secondly, its been asked by some members here to keep the stickies to a minimum. And, quite frankly, I agree. I hate going to forum sites and scroll down a whole page just to see the most recent topic due to all of the sticky threads.
So, I'd be happy to put up Rules Questions Thread as a sticky, but something's gonna need to go.

Here's a possibility: Merge Pirates October FAQ & Rules with Rules Questions Thread. Then close/lock down the ghost threads. Let me know if that'll work for you.

That would work if you could make sure to keep the rules scan and the links on the FAQ thread at the very beginning of it.

Even if you don't merge them, you might want to change the name of that thread - the October version of the PC/FAQ was already outdated by that November. A more generic (dateless) name for the thread would be better.

Maybe get him to check on the Armies section, too, it was doing some weird things there last week - it showed(and is still showing) fleet breakdowns rounded to the nearest 100% in each category, which isn't very helpful... Confused

Lordstu, I have sent you another message, and hope that you get it. But in case you don't, I seem to be getting you messages, so if you're comfortable with it, you could send me a message with your email address so that we can trade. But hopefully you'll get my new message and we won't have to worry about that. Thanks!
