Yeah, Old_Man will guide us as to the real deal once he can compare.

It seems odd someone would bother to fake one up, but you never know.

Good thing they aren't as rare as we believed... my bet at this point is that they printed them (aka there's thousands) and just never shipped them... either due to timing or the typo.

We'll probably see these trickiling out for months, then they'll be 3 for 5 dollars on eBay... even the once coveted Raptor Maw is around $10 us now.

It'll be weird, holding a $3 ship, knowing how much these things used to be worth........

Of course, lets stop degrading the ship on the trader's thread. Wink

And, you can look all over the Internet for companies that will personalize Styrene cards for you. My guess is this guy got the original copy of OD and did his copying through one of those companies.

Don't tell me it's a "pirated" Pirates card? Wink

What is the world coming to?

i had that idea to literaly create my own set by scaning a card, photo shoping it to look how i want, then having it printed on styrene. But i agree that it lookes copied. and i'm asuming its 'uncut'.

the card is actually cut there are holes in it, i should have thought before i put the white sheet of paper behind it to show that there were holes (duh Confused ), i should have used a different color. if it is a mock up they did an excellent job on it, the card thickness appears to be the same, it's punched (but has not been punched out, although i am tempted to do so) i will try to get more pics and to investigate, but i have alot going on right now.

later

I'm sold! Only problem is the value of these things is diving faster than the economy, by the time everybody's done talking about it, you'll be using them as "sturdy packaging materials" for other, more valuable, cards!

Just waiting.

But I think, I'll have the OD in my hands the following week and then I'll inspect the cards and tell the community, what I've found.

fate has dealt a fatal blow to me. the one ship that i sent out to old_man returned to me due to my own ill thought in how i posted it (i have never sent anything over seas before), but that part is ok. The horrible part occured over the weekend, my house caught fire, and my upper floors (particulary two rooms) were severly damaged, tho others were just abit. however in these two upper rooms i kept my obago duces, along with a portion of my collection (the rest is in the basement and are ok thank god). so i regret to say all transactions or trade offers in process with others are herby teminated/cancled, that is unless you want a obago that has been hit by a real firepot, and i tell you a pile of melted is not pretty and smells worse. It will take me along time to rebuild my work, and to you who i was in the process of making a trade with i will probably pm you alll as well.

Sorry to ruin any of your hopes, mine are certainly burnt.

I'm happy to hear (or read) you. Fire is fun in a pirates game, but in the house ... Count on us (I suppose so) to help you rebuild your collection.

Now, that is a tough break! I live in an apartment building and I'm always worried some yo-yo is going to drop a cigarette butt in his trash or something.

We actually had to evacuate the building a couple months ago because somebody set off a sprinkler - I have all my best ships in a special shelf unit, needless to say it was one of the two things I grabbed before heading downstairs(and I can't even remember now what the second thing was!) People who knew me were like, "You're crazy, man!" But, I don't think so, I'd probably never get too many of those ships back again.

So, I feel your pain Sad , hope everything comes back together for you!

I say we should all help cptjr to rebuild what he lost.
