I was really looking forward to this new set but now I am more than disappointed!
1. I do not like screenshots instead of art (WK surely did that because of: saving money, fewer work, faster completing the new set)
2. I do not like three different versions of the same item! What the hell!?

I think I won't buy boosters from the new set. I will spend my money on BC, MI and FN. I only own very few items of these sets at the moment.

Hey guys,

Someone at my venue suggested for our games banning the PotC stuff because it might be too powerful or too weak to play against the other sets. I don't think it would occur but what do u guys think?

I don't think many people at my venue will buy it. This for several reasons:

- It features only English and Pirates, while most of the players are specialized on other factions (I'm the only English player around...);
- Nobody here likes the idea of playing a Disney branded product, sounds too much like advertising the movies;
- Screenshots have been a very bad idea, people don't like them;
- The "three versions rule" raised a lot of complains;
- The set doesn't visually "blend" with the others... I know it's a style thing, but it's important to gamers.

I don't think we will need to ban it (as well as we didn't need to ban Titans and Singing Sharks). People will simply ignore it. As for new players, I think they will quickly pass to older sets once they saw the "veterans" play them.

On my account, as a Privateer I won't organize DPotC events unless openly asked by the players. Razz

Well, we won't know for sure until we see the cards and any rules changes. Either way, it should quickly become obvious...

for instance, no one here uses subs, sea dragons or seamonsters anymore for tournament style play after losing badly with them once.

I imagine many folks will be house-ruling the POTC set to be playable only in POTC specific games, i.e. ignoring the POTC set for purposes of a "normal" pirates game.

I'll be collecting them all for sure, but playing with them? We'll see.

I agree with holo that we won't know the power of it. My thoughts on this set is that it'll be really fun for scenarios. You know, recreate the first battle between Barbossa's Black Pearl and the Endeavor(? I forget which one, I need to see it again). Endeavorgets -1 to her cannon rolls for using knives and forks instead of cannonballs, but gets come about for using an anchor instead of the tiller.

I think I'm burned out though, about Pirates and all. Again, like holosaid, we need to wait and see.

One things for sure, this will not sour my feelings towards Wizkids Pirates CSG or Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Very Happy

I'd like to see the set do well and believe it will as it could increase the player participation at the venue I Privateer at.

I know a couple of individuals who used to play are excited over this new set. I'd estimate these individuals to be in their 30's (not quite as old as me.) Smile

I'm planning on collecting the entire set as I've done previously. I'd really like to complete some of the earlier ones, please take a look at what I'm missing and contact me if you see comparable matches.

Thanks,

flinxrap

I'll probably actually play this one. I mentioned that possibility before but it has always been a lack of a connection that kept me from really digging into the game.

It will probably be stand alone without mixing in the other characters. Ships I'll have to wait and see on. I know my daughters will want to play.

So this will probably be the one and only set that I will be playing anything but triplicates.

I'm starting to think that I won't like this set as much from a collectors point mainly because of the RUM, THAT NASTY, NASTY RUM.

oh fer cryin' out loud - it's a still from the movie... it looks fine.

I prefer artwork, but if they must use photos on each card, so be it.

I'm actually looking forward to this set and will buy more on this one than I have on the last few sets. I don't like the images but can live with them...and as far as being underpowered or too powerful...I'll take the wait and see approach as well. I know that my son and I will be playing a lot more games because of this set...and that's a good thing.

My son and I enjoyed the movies as well as a few of you here and we both look forward to having Jack and the Black Pearl...it's going to be fun.

@Aragorn243...I'm sending you all my duplicate rum cards! Wink

Wooden Eye - closeup of the empty socket

Jar of dirt - Closeup of jar stuffed in Depp's shirt

I'll tell ya a treasure I'd like to see... Elizabeth's locket. You know, from the first movie... when she wears the coin and tries on the ... erm. Nevermind. Clearly, not all of us have been to Singapore.
