Fleet of the Week, from Pirates CSG

Captain

Fleet "Barbary Untouchables V 2.0" - 40 Points for Pirates CSG

built by ziotoo4 Premium Member

Unfortunately, i couldn't change the first version of this fleet, so i came out with:
Barbary Untouchables V 2.0

As the name says, the strategy of this fleet is pretty simple: both ships have an ability that defend themselves, becoming pretty untouchables.
The Nubian Prince cannot be shot at by ships within S of it. That means that, as we'll see later, he could become really "untouchable".
The other ship, Tiger's Eye, cannot be hit by L range cannons. that means she can only be involed in close combats, and it isn't easy, since she's really fast!!
In fact,both ships move S+S+S

The tactic is the following:
The Tiger's Eye wanders around collecting treasure on wild islands and engages ships with only L cannons, if there are any.

The Nubian Prince, instead, moves quickly towards the enemy's gunship and shoots with the chainshot specialist. So the opponent's turn comes...Usually the chainshot isn't often used, because, even if the other ship can't move, she can howewer shoot. But the Prince special ability means that he cannot be shot at as long as the enemy ship is within S of it. But ,since the other ship can't move, he becomes..."untouchable"!!!
So, in a couple of turns, thanks to Murat Rais, that gives + 1 to cannon rolls against non-barbary corsairs ships (read:always) the enemy gunship is gone.
Repeat if needed.

Then there will be only one ship left, usually the support one. Leave it and go around taking all treasure. you could leave the chainshot specialist, Murat Rais, and the captain on any island (since they're barbary corsair, they won't most probably be useful for enemy ships) to convert the Nubian Prince into a nice treasure ship.

If your ships sink an enemy gold runners, use divers to get all treasure. Another good alternative would be putting an explorer on your home island instead of using divers to load it on Nubian prince when all enemy gunships are sunk.

This fleet takes advantage from two elements:

1: The nationality: nobody will expect a Barbary corsairs fleet(<<...they're so old fashioned...you can't win with them...ecc.ecc.>>)

2: The surprise factor: after 4-5 games, your fellows will begin to think about a counter-tactic...actually, there are two of them:
- Sink the Nubian prince before he attacks (easier said than done)
- The events "becalmed", "mermaids" and "raft".
Both stinks, and you could howewer win even if your opponent use them

But another thing that could destroy this fleet are ability cancellers. So, when this happens, swap the nubian prince with another fast gunship (i.e. janissaries' blood, or ivory star), or two-three fast treasure ships (almost all galleys are fast) and keep winning!

P.s. thanks to Vladsimpaler that shown me how this fleet wasn't tournament legal. I fixed that, thanks!!!

This fleet is dedicated to who ever thought that barbary corsairs are a puny and sad faction.
